Kebab.ji (Syrian Cuisine) Restaurant
St Mary's Church, Vicarage School Room, GillinghamJust had a lovely authentic family meal. Chicken shawarmas and the shish taouk were delicious. We also had hummus and baba ganoush on the side that went perfectly with our mains. All finished off with baklava and halawa for dessert. I would definitely recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Seafood Fish & Chips
1 Station Rd, GillinghamOrdered direct for collection. It was very busy and our food wasn’t ready when it stated but unsurprising for a Friday night. Food was all hot, we ordered a variety of things between us and the portions were HUGE! Definitely good value for money, it all tasted very fresh, especially the fish. Kids were very pleased with their sweets in the kids boxes.
Will definitely have again in the future.
Kid-friendliness: Kids meal boxes which are excellent value and they got bonus sweets so we’re both very happy with this.
Would be nice for them to be able to choose their drinks which come with the meal.

Lavender Blue Bakery

Did the cake at very short notice, decorated exactly as asked and tasted amazing. The team were lovely and more than happy to help.

The Phoenix
The Square, GillinghamFOR some strange reason I have never been to Gillingham even though I live in Dorset. That was rectified recently when we decided to drive up and spend part of a day there. We visited the town's very good little museum and later had a meal in a cafe before we felt the need for a pint. With no knowledge we had to ask about local pubs and one resident recommended we try The Phoenix because it was a friendly pub where the beer was kept well. They were right on both counts with staff giving us a nice welcome and pouring me a pint which was as clear as crystal and very tasty. Fittings were simple and basic but the toilets were clean and well kept which is all you can ask of any pub you visit. Certainly we'd have no hesitation in coming back to the Phoenix when next we are in the area.

3 High St, GillinghamBest Chinese takeaway around, always delicious, good portion sizes and value for money.
We spent over £50 for a group and got free mini spring rolls, free prawn crackers, free chicken satay portion and fortune cookies. Great added bonus!

South St, GillinghamWell I have discovered a new favourite at the Viceroy. The chicken tikka Bombay flame is an exceptional curry. Spiced somewhere between a madras and a vindaloo, the unique flavour of Naga chili pervades this beautifully balanced sauce. The baby potatoes are a delight and the curry is satisfying and leaves one feeling very content. Just add your favourite naan for a perfect meal - the price includes pilau rice.Rohim and the staff are friendly and helpful and I can recommend highly.Parking: There is both on street and council pay and display parking within a few yards

The Filling Station
2 Station Rd, Lower, GillinghamWithout a doubt the best cafe in Gillingham. Not the cheapest but you absolutely get what you pay for. Always freshly cooked with top quality ingredients and the coffee there is just fantastic. Clean, fresh and a pleasure to eat there. If you need to eat in Gillingham this needs to be on your must try list.
