The Wise Man Inn
West Stafford, DorchesterFabulous gastro pub. We enjoyed the food so much we went there for a second evening whilst staying overnight locally. Really good value for money with generous portion sizes ? If you have the fish Friday, which includes a drink, you need to ask, which ones are included before ordering. We didn't realize that at the time and ordered drinks that weren't included.

Basilico
41 Trinity St, DorchesterMy friend and I ate here this evening before watching a film at the plaza cinema a 2minute walk away. I had seen this place on the map and often thought i should try it. On first glance this little restaurant doesn't look much but don't judge a book by its cover, go inside and enjoy the pizza. On arrival the place was quiet bar one couple enjoying their food. The lovely waitress/possible owner took a little while to greet us but once she did I can't complain. We quickly ordered our food and beverage each. Whilst we chatted they decided to put some questionable pop/rap/rnb music on which was a bit louder than background music so I had to pay attention to my friends conversation. However all can he forgiven as when our pizzas arrived they were authentic and delicious. Having been to Italy multiple times I can confirm these Woodfired sour dough pizzas in Dorset are fantastic. The waitress also checked on us a couple of times which i appreciate. Great little find. A shame for the owners that it wasn't busier as they deserve to have more footfall on a Friday night. The bill was very reasonable. 2 soft drinks and 2 pizzas was just over £35.00.I will 100% be returning with my partner and no doubt with my friend again.

Junction Hotel
Great Western Rd, DorchesterBar staff were friendly and polite and quick at their job.
Lager tasted clean and crisp.
Tables were a little sticky and in need of a hard clean.
Menu was limited but being a Sunday, to be expected.
Cowboy burger was very tasty and the fries were crisp and not oily
The Vegan soup tasted like it was tinned and came with a slice of bread instead of 1/2 baguette as advertised. Also the bread was not great, possibly gluten free?
The strangest thing was the fact that the soup was ordered as "Vegan Soup" but then came with butter. My wife is not vegan, she has Crohn's which means that she can not have anything high in lactose, so no cream. I imagine any vegan ordering this would be very offended.

Brewhouse & Kitchen - Dorchester
27 Weymouth Ave, DorchesterHad our Christmas party there. Food was pre-booked which was helpful as we didn't have to wait too long to be served even though it was very busy. They also came out and called our names to give us the food which was great. The atmosphere was good, although a little loud, but being so busy you would expect that. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was tasty but there were a couple of little issues such as massive sprouts which were still hard and difficult to cut in half and the roulade for pudding was just a small slice in the middle of a large plate, no cream or anything and looked like no effort had been made whereas the other puddings were bigger and better presented. Didn't spoil our night though and would go there again.

The Rivers Arms
Cheselbourne, DorchesterTerrific pub with a really dedicated owner/ landlord. So much effort has been made to create several different areas where one can eat and / or drink. It's a large building with a cosy front bar and a very pleasant conservatory. Upstairs is a library where food and drinks can be taken. Very smart! Various outdoor seating places and 2 verandas
There are chalets to stay in, too.
Food is homemade and of good quality. Good ingredients and large portions. Very reasonable prices.
Good beer and other drinks.
Regulars are very friendly and good fun. Good welcoming atmosphere, too. It's very clean, and all areas are well maintained as well as being interesting to be in.
The landlord is really friendly and helpful.
Just one sad note, it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays out of season. The village is rural and small.
However, it's very pretty and the pub is definitely worth the trip!!!
Highly recommend and will stay there if we return to the area.
Thanks to everyone who made us feel happy to be there!'

The King and Thai Restaurant
35 Great Western Rd, Dorchester1st time in this restaurant and the Thai attitude & hospitality is immediately obvious - very friendly and attentive service indeed. We chose "Anna's Banquet" - the V/VE option. The starters were delicious as was our desert of fried banana. The main course was a feast of vegetable dishes... We could not eat them all!
Overall a very good experience. If I had one criticism it would be that the vegetables were partly very crunchy = almost undercooked.
But overall a very positive experience and we will return... Trying some meat dishes and ordering individually. ?
Good value for money too.

Tell me, how are you going to take your entitled self to a car park and assume that you can park there indefinitely, then cry about getting a ticket??? Are you stupid???? You expect people to spoon-feed you information like how long you can park? Open your eyes and read the signs???
Nothing but good experiences here. Coffee tastes great, staff are friendly, a CLEAR screen to extend parking and a VERY CLEAR explanation from the lovely staff on the parking restrictions, to ensure I don't get a ticket?

Subway
33A South St, DorchesterLove this place, it's always open when I need lunch and the bread is only slightly chewy. The only real downside is that Subway as a brand got rid of the cheesy bites and the sweet chili sauce, which should be a crime. Also bring back flatbread it was the best bread!!
Vegetarian options: They got rid of their vege party in favour of a vegan one and I believe I'd prefer it if they just had both in stock. Not every vegetarian wants to eat things pretending to be meat as well so more options would be nice.

Potters Cafe Bistro
19 Durngate St, DorchesterBit of a squeeze, but we managed to get a pushchair in. Staff and food are both amazing. Great ambience and fireplace. They even made me a special baguette to meet my dietary requirements - not much effort but very appreciated. Will always eat here when we visit Dorchester.
Wheelchair accessibility: Possible, but a big challenge.

The Blue Raddle
9 Church St, DorchesterA proper pub. Excellent, home cooked food. Excellent beer. Interesting decor with some humour including Private Eye front pages. May not be attractive to young ones who can't entertain themselves. Highly recommended. Bookings advisable if eating, especially on weekends.

Red Lion Hotel
A352, Winfrith, DorchesterFood and drinks: We stopped at Red Lion Hotel after visiting Durdle Door and it was a wonder. The service was kind and friendly and the food was amazing, we enjoyed every minute of our meal. We ordered chicken wings and they were massive, they also brought us water with lemon to clean our hands. I'd highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

Blossom Dream Cakes
22 Heathcote Cl, DorchesterAngela provided our wedding cake and everyone couldn't stop saying how lovely it looked and that the lemon and elderflower flavour was light and delicious! It was also really great that there was the option for a wedding cake sample box on the website so we could try different flavors beforehand. Highly recommend!
