Rickshaw Express
Glebe House, High St, SidmouthAmazing, our favourite Chinese when on holiday. The guy that owns it is so friendly and will make you absolutely anything! I can only eat gluten free and he does the most amazing sweet and sour chicken and explains how he will flavour it and cook it. I wouldn't go anywhere else other than here. Super quick too and easy to get to and park ?
Dietary restrictions: Can do some dishes gluten free!

Mocha Restaurant
Prospect Place, SidmouthWe first came to the Mocha 40 ago and have sporadicly been back ever since. Today was great to share Brunch with my sister and wife - it was lovely, HOWEVER I cannot stay quiet about what I believe to extortionate prices. As an example £9.00 for beans on toast and an additional £3.50 to add bacon to avocado & toast.
These prices (especially on self service) are just not justifiable for the average person/family.

Upper Deck
Manor Rd, SidmouthIf it wasn't for this place, the entire weekend n Sidmouth would've been a tragedy. Luckily, I don't like to book dining ahead when staying away until I can SEE what's available,as we stayed next door at the Victoria (go check my review there) and the food was BLEH.
I'd made this reservation and I'm SO GLAD I did. Although the mussels weren't available, the meal was amazing. Even had my husband (sworn seafood hater) indulging in scallops!
From start to finish (with the Dark Chocolate tart)...no complaints here.
Book it and enjoy.

Takeaway Restaurants

Sidmouth Tandoori Takeaway
7 Radway, SidmouthAll I can say is that this place is a hidden gem! Ordered an achari gohst (meat in pickled spices) and 4 chapattis. The lad behind the counter was very polite and hospitable, even though we came a few minutes before closing! The curry was not dripping with oil, which was fantastic. It was packed full of flavour. The quality of the meat itself was excellent, and it was very succulent, as it was cooked to perfection, and unlike some restaurants, there were more than enough pieces of it. The chapattis were enormous. Pricewise, I'd say it's reasonable, considering the prices of utilities and meat. Grand total of £19.30. It's hard to find a good curry house nowadays. it's all kebabs and burgers! I will definitely be eating from there again as it's good to support your local curry house, especially when the food is spot on!!

The Belmont Hotel
The Esplanade, SidmouthHave just stayed for 3 nights at The Belmont, Sidmouth (10-12th Sept) and had a very nice time. However I did just mention to the reception staff that my husband was celebrating his 80th birthday on 12 Sept and although I wouldn't have expected a fuss I did think it would have been a nice gesture for them to have perhaps just given him a drink on the house with his dinner on his special day, but nothing. Very disappointed. Mrs J Chinnick

Woodlands Hotel Sidmouth
Station Rd, SidmouthA family run hotel, the host was very welcoming, spending time to take us around the hotel, with explanation. A unique idea of an 'honesty bar' treated as an adult, even having an actual room & front door key! Room was well presented, modern on suite & car parking spaces on site.
Walking distance to the sea front.
Would recommend this as how bygone age hotels used to be. You can even pay in cash!
