We went there as a group of 6, the service was spot on, not slow not fast. They catered for my wife's gluten allergy and someone else's portion size.
It's a small place so you have to book
We will be going back there in the future.
Funniest thing was the bill was hand written.

Best restaurant I’ve been to in along time. All you can eat buffet. The gentleman who works there is polite helpful makes you feel welcome. He can’t do enough for his customers one in a million even going through the bins to find my car key which I found in the top half of my body ? but he was a star if I could give more stars it would definitely be ?.

This is one of the best Restaurants in town. The good quality ingredients are always freshly prepared with love & great care. Passion & pride are evident in every aspect of this delightful eatery from the service through to the kitchens & it shows in the exceptional food served. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is authentic Nepalese cuisine & so tasty. Not every meal is highly spiced - mild & even some chilli free dishes are on the menu. The chef has an amazing palate for perfect balance of each plate. We have been eating at the Gurkhas Diner for many years & the quality & excellence remain outstanding. This restaurant comes highly recommended & is loved by all our friends & family who have joined us there!

This review is not about a visit. This restaurant is excellent place for eating in. However I would like to bring to your attention that due to health issues, some times the owner is unable to open. We come on holiday and book twice a year. However 3 out of our last 4 bookings have been cancelled. We have just been unlucky, but,if you are new to this restaurant just be aware that this could happen. But do not let this stop you from booking, cause once there you will have a great evening.

We had an absolutely fabulous evening here. Our first time eating here
and it certainly won't be the last.
The food was absolutely delicious, hot on arrival and served by a delightful young lady who is an absolute credit to this establishment. Looking forward to a return visit very soon.

Was able to watch the Welsh football match on S4C in this bar,so I was well pleased, £4-50 for a pint of lager wasn't too painful & the locals were friendly enough & created a warm atmosphere. All in all a decent time was had by all.

Aroy mak mak! We had a lovely time here, excellent food that brought me back to Thailand. Seabass was fantastic. The staff are so friendly too.
Looking forward to heading back and I think will be my go to for takeaway too from now on.

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food, generous portion sizes. Excellent service, smiley welcome and goodbye. Beautiful moist chocolate cake for birthday celebration and some baileys shots. Lovely end to a lovely meal

I've been a couple of times and have stuck to the usual green curry order. This time we tried something different with steamed dim sum (excellent), pork neck (very good and well worth trying) and a lamb massaman curry. The lamb massaman was fantastic. Rich gravy, tender and tasty lamb. The potato in the curry created a rich gravy and the potato tasted great, holding all the flavour from the curry. The service was good. It was pretty quiet in the restaurant (a Tuesday) and only one person serving so with food and drink for a few tables meant a bit of running around. The food came quickly. The restaurant was nice and clean and well decorated with lots of Thai statues. Ambience was a bit quiet... could do with some music or something. But, this is a great restaurant and the food was good enough for me to try something different.

Hands down the best Fish and Chips I have had in a long time. Cooked traditionally in beef dripping you really can taste the difference ?
If I didn't live so far away I would be back many times.
Fish was fresh and tasty, Chips were quality potato and cooked just right.

Parking: Small road with a few spaces outside, we found a spot but at busy times it may be better to park a short walk round the corner.

Our second holiday to Paignton couldn’t pass without another visit to The Local. Didn’t book, just called in on the off chance of a free table. We were in luck. Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back if we holiday here again.

After reading the reviews we thought we'd give this place a try. Really good! Cracking bacon baps and nice coffee at a really reasonable price. Very genuine and pleasant staff. At risk of upsetting other customers I'd advise the owners to put their prices up a bit. We paid double for something less good at a cafe on the A303 the previous day. It's GREAT.

I was having a dizzy spell as I got off the bus and the cafe owner kindly offered me a seat until it passed. My friend and I then decided to eat here. What a find! Good selection of food on offer, at an affordable cost, and the food was absolutely lovely. We opted for one of the breakfasts on offer & it exceeded our expectations. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The cafe is clean and tidy. We will definitely return. My dizzy spell did us a favour!

A fantastic spot for food or drinks by the sea! It’s always a positive bustling atmosphere in here. They serve freshly prepared delicious food which is always beautifully presented, cakes, drinks alcoholic and coffees and soft drinks. Sometimes they have live music too. You can sit in, or out in the sunshine or under cover. It’s dog friendly and child friendly. They don’t do as many vegan options as they used to (I wish they’d bring back the aubergine fish fingers from years ago!!!) but there are still some options and they do vegan cheese so can swap some stuff out. 20p from all pizzas goes to the Wave project, and they’re super fresh yummy pizzas!!
Edit: Reduction of a star as actually service is inconsistent - some staff fantastic but when we went back again one of them was very rude. Friends told me the staff have been rude to them when they’ve been here too, though it was the first time I’d experienced it myself.

Vegetarian options: Loads of veggie options from breakfasts to pizzas to halloumi and carrot balls to plant burger to cauliflower bowls!

Dietary restrictions: Veggie, Vegan and gluten free options clearly marked on the menu. They do also do vegan cheese so you adjust some meals such as some of the pizzas.

Parking: If you are lucky on a quiet day you may find parking on the surrounding streets but this can be very tricky and up very steep hills. You are better off parking in Youngs Park Car Park which is a short level walk along the green or sea front to Cantina.

Kid-friendliness: Child friendly. There are some colouring supplies and high chairs (kept over by the toilets). There is a baby changing station in the accessible toilet.

Wheelchair accessibility: Some of the place is on the level. You can order via QR code or the bar to order from is on the level right by the main entrance.

Cocktails were beautiful and very well presented, lots of variety! The Somersby apple cider was one of the nicest pints I’ve had in a long time, even had to ask the staff if they added anything to it as it was so lovely. Staff were friendly and always happy to help, the place was spotless and had a good atmosphere. Live music in the nights was good and very chilled. Would 100% return and definitely recommend.

We were greeted with a warm welcome when we arrived and enjoyed every moment of our birthday treat visit. A stunning view, great food with excellent service. We visited Saturday night for the live entertainment and it was fab! The atmosphere was lovely, the decoration of the pub gives a very warm welcoming. Despite being very busy the bar staff very quick and efficient. Upstairs seating over looking the stage was perfect. Lovely and clean environment. The band and the dj were great. Would definitely recommend.
