Tean's Thai Kitchen
13 Queen St, Newton AbbotVery friendly staff and delicious food, though primarily a restaurant, they do offer takeaway service - hands down the best takeaway in Newton abbot. The only negative feedback I’d give, is that at £17.30 for red chicken curry and sticky rice it’s by far the most expensive takeaway in Newton - fine in itself, it’s probably also the best, as such representing value and I’m happy to pay. However, the portion of sticky rice that individually costs £4 is minuscule, especially in comparison to the size of the curry - a generous portion (as pictured). Though it bugs me every time I order, I still do keep going back?! although if truth be told, probably less than if every time I order, Im left with a whole load of curry and no remaining accompaniment!

The Linny at Coffinswell
Ridgeway Ln, Coffinswell, Newton AbbotHad a great time, food very enjoyable, and a great menu, and remember to ask for specials.
Also, book early, I recommend upstairs as more relaxed, in my opinion. We were 4 but I noted even larger tables were all served together.
House wine not cheap but very enjoyable, as the driver, I had little so must enjoy what I had.
The table is yours for the evening, no urgency for extra covers.
Mobility, upstairs there is a toilet and the stairs although long are comfortable, but downstairs access ok but I think a wheelchair would have some difficulty on a busy night.
Just a note if wheelchair user, the car park is very steep in places..
Vegetarian options: Fish dishes are all good, fish pie is enormous. I had skate wing cooked perfect, and I am fussy pescatarian.
Parking: Country Lane narrow and no signal but satnav ok.

The Old Inn
The Old Inn, Widecombe in the Moor, Newton AbbotWhat a wonderful place to stop off on the Moors. This is a very roomy pub/restaurant yet very cozy! I love the 14th century history. The food was great and the local stout, Outland, hit the spot. It made our day on the Moors perfect. Make sure to stop off afterwards to see the church, St. Pancras. I was very impressed with the farmhouse ploughman’s lunch! And the steak and ale pie was very wonderful.
Parking: There is free parking around the back as well as an entrance. There is plenty of parking.
Kid-friendliness: Very kids friendly. My kids had a blast and loved the food / tea.

Sharpy's sports and music bar
10 Queen St, Newton AbbotOrdered two large doners and chips for delivery. It’s never going to be as fresh as when you go in and order as they will no doubt have a few orders together to deliver. A nice kebab with plenty of meat. Quite thinly sliced and I personally like a slightly thicker cut of meat. Be a little more generous with the sauce though guys! Loads of the meat was quite dry with only about a third of it with any sauce on. Will go in next time and request that.

Shahnaz Tandoori
22 West St, Ashburton, Newton AbbotVery good service and tasty food so we order pretty regularly. I am here to edit a previous review as I had small issue with the in-store service a couple of weeks ago and I’m here to say that the establishment clearly take great pride in their customer service and immediately responded with an above and beyond response. We’ve since ordered again and the food was delicious and my one off concerns were thoroughly addressed. They didn’t know I was ordering again and I am happy to report that the issue experienced was completely not the case this time. We are fortunate to have such a place locally and we are delighted to be able to continue eating glorious food from here. Thank you Shahnaz.

Tavistock Inn
Poundsgate, Newton AbbotWe ate here on holiday and we have become a big fan of the pubs and this one too. It's quaint and cozy, the people are warm, relaxed and have a sense of mischief. The innkeeper has an eye on everything and provides excellent service inside. He immediately sees when glasses are empty and charmingly asks for more. Even the next day the innkeeper still has an idea of what was ordered the day before and asks when he comes in. Even when we were sitting outside it wasn't an issue. Dogs shouldn't have an issue with cats here (because they run freely inside and outside) and should otherwise be relaxed on a leash. Then some regular guests get a cookie and some nice cuddles. The quality of the food was outstanding, we have rarely all been as enthusiastic about the food as we were here, the food is freshly prepared and tastes great ? delicious. The kids also decided that we liked this restaurant best on our entire trip up until today. There was laughter and jokes and it was also possible to have a good chat with the locals.
We would be happy to come back and pet the cats. My recommendation of the sticky toffee pudding was amazing and the breaded mushrooms with garlic were sought after by the children. Thank you very much for a few great evenings and the excellent food. Warm greetings from Germany.
Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian and even vegan dishes on the menu
Dietary restrictions: Any intolerances were also taken into account if you noted them before ordering.
Kid-friendliness: Children are welcome and you always have a smile or kind word for them.

Double Luck Kitchen
125 Queen St, Newton AbbotThis temple of deluxe Chinese food is not just the best in Newton Abbot (low standards by the way) but potentially the greatest takeaway in the world. As a food connoisseur, I would give this takeaway approximately 5 Michelin stars, highlighting how impressed I was at the food on offer. The service was immense, as the young girls treated me nicely, as I rolled in with my wheelchair, and the boys at the back of the kitchen also waved to my young children, which made their day. I was so impressed with the taste of the food, so I will have to come again soon!Vegetarian options: There are many of vegetarian options, for those who are against meat of any sort.Dietary restrictions: If you ask the young ladies at the counter, they will deal with your dietary requirements.Kid-friendliness: I brought my 4 year-old and 6 year-old into the takeaway, and they were treated well by the young girls at the counter and the boys at the back of the kitchen also said hello.

3 Sixty
The Hub, Newton Rd, Bovey Tracey, Newton AbbotIt was the first time I'd visited 3 sixty and the overall setting is very very lovely, the people were super nice, everything was great, just the food was not great for me, as i felt the quality was not quite there, and it was unseasoned. The fish fingers in the sandwich was similar to ones you buy frozen. The wedges that came with it were supposed to taste like lemon and black pepper but sadly didn't, the sandwich and wedges were both not seasoned. It may have been an off day as I understand this was a special of the day, but I feel it worth mentioning. The cakes looked absolutely delicious but sadly i didn't induldge, I can also say my hot drink was very lovely.

Cheap Eats

The Union Inn
10 Ford St, Moretonhampstead, Newton AbbotWe visited this pub earlier this week. Very quiet being a lunchtime in the middle of the week, but a full menu was being served and we were made very welcome (including our dog). We had lamb chops and a proper home made steak and kidney pudding served with a variety of vegetables (mash, cauliflower cheese, carrots etc). All were excellent. On chatting with the very friendly staff we learned that the wide selection of pies on the menu plus the pudding and no doubt the majority of the menu were made on the premises. So no bought in catering stuff here, just honest to goodness home cooked food served in proper portions. If you are in the area don't hesitate to eat here, you will not regret it.

The Horse
7 George St, Moretonhampstead, Newton AbbotWhat a gem of a pub- we were visiting Moretonhampstead and needed some lunch and happened on The Horse. The lovely landlady was quick and efficient with our drinks - beer for the boys and coffee for me, and then with our food order. We only had an hour's parking, but our stone baked pizzas and omelette arrived super quickly and were absolutely delicious.
Clean and comfy loos too!
Would definitely recommend - wish we lived closer.

Wellington Inn
Fore St, Ipplepen, Newton AbbotHad the best ploughman's ever when we came in May, just as good again tonight as was the peppered chicken. Lovely, friendly, efficient staff and fair prices. Pity we live 275 miles away. Will be back again next year.

Our (somewhat fussy) family had plenty of choice from the menu and enjoyed the homemade options. Luckily we saved room for dessert as this was a highlight!

The Old Library Restaurant/cafe
North St, Ashburton, Newton AbbotAbsolutely amazing breakfast place?
We were looking for a breakie on our Devon trip and found this super welcoming warm inviting café in the heart of Ashburton.
Food is delicious and filling, offering a bit of traditional and a bit of modern healthy plates. The staff is fabulous with wonderful smiles and helpful demeanor.
It's close to the parking in town and close to all the beautiful shops of the central Street.
Absolutely right decision to stop by. ?

No Limits Cafe, Kitchen & Hub
3, Bridge House, Sherborne Rd, Newton AbbotLovely warm welcome at this friendly cafe. Love everything that they stand for, all for a great cause. The food and drinks were lovely and fresh, reasonably priced and I particularly love that they have a system for paying forward meals and drinks. Recommend the carrot and cumin soup which was both vegan and gluten-free.
