My husband and I have been holidaying in the area and came across this wonderful pub when on a dog walk at the local quarry in the rain. We went in to dry out and warm up and the welcome we received was wonderful. The pub is beautiful, cosy, welcoming and very very dog friendly and the bar staff and landlord are absolute sweethearts. As soon as we walked in the door, dripping and covered in mud we were treated like family. Our (often nervous) rescue dog instantly decided everyone and everything was great.
We fell in love with the place and booked a table for dinner the next day (Monday) and we are so glad we did. Skittles games were happening at home in Meeth and in local villages and people were in and out getting ready for the competitions ahead. (Skittles is a very important game in Devon!)
Instead of feeling like an outsider intruding on their space, the locals and staff made us feel like we were new friends and "dinner and a pint" turned in to 4+ hours of lovely pub time.
The food was amazing, the meat all local, fresh and beautifully cooked and the portions were hearty and filling! Chips were perfect, salad was dressed nicely and everything was freshly cooked and hot straight from the kitchen.
Places like this make us certain we will visit the area again. The bull and dragon is a gem, a testament to the owners wonderful care and friendliness and the welcoming attitude of the local community. We feel lucky we have stumbled across this fantastic place!

Iddesleigh, WinkleighExcellent Sunday lunch after completing the 10km warhorse race in the rain.
Really enjoyable meal, beef was excellent, actually it all was. Friends had sticky toffee pudding, which they said was great.

14 Market St, Hatherleigh, OkehamptonI visited here with my sister in law and my nephew on the evening of September 28th 22This is a cosy and quirky pub with a beautiful back garden. A great pint . We all ordered the sirloin steak which was very reasonably priced . Two were ordered medium rare and I asked for mine blue. All 3 steaks were cooked perfectly. The staff here were attentive but not over the top, welcoming and with good humour . Highly recommended. Thank you for looking after us ?

West Fishleigh, Farm, OkehamptonA small Garden centre, farm park, play area that you drive past loads of times and wonder what it is. It is a pleasant way to while away an hour or so walking around veg and flower beds, getting up close to goats, ponies, sheep and other livestock, let the kids burn off some energy in the large clean play area and finish your visit with a drink and cake at the cafe. Plants and seasonal veg are also on sale. Free entry but don't expect to be there all day.

George Inn
5 Market St, Hatherleigh, OkehamptonStayed for 3 nights for work and found the rooms very spacious and very clean. All staff members I met were very friendly and very helpful. The food was great and at a reasonable price for the area and was a quick friendly service so hats off to the kitchen staff and the servers . I would highly recommend The George and if I am back in the area I would not hesitate on staying here again
