RHS Garden Rosemoor
RHS Garden Rosemoor, TorringtonI only gave this four stars because we obviously went the wrong time of year because everything was getting ready for autumn. My daughter bought an annual pass because she only lives 20 minutes away so I am expecting great photos from her as the Seasons progress. As someone who finds walking very difficult the paths were easy to navigate and the map supplied was a boon.
The lady who dealt with my daughter's membership was fantastic. However another reason for only giving them four stars was the exceptionally patronising guy at the till when we entered who gave me the tickets, leaflets etc and the map to the only man in the group despite him not paying and looking and behaving particularly embarrassed by the staff's behaviour.
Had to leave the dog at home because they are not allowed. The cafe and restaurant were quite expensive with limited range in the cafe by the time we got there at 2:00 p.m. so next time I think my daughter will take a picnic to eat with her baby in the gardens where there are a wide selection of picnic areas, seating etc. The playground areas seemed fabulous unfortunately we were the only ones in them average age of visitor was probably over 65.

Yarde Orchard Cafe & Accommodation
East Yarde, Peters Marland, TorringtonLovely lunch on a blustery day. We had sandwiches and soup, and drinks. We didn't stay at the accommodation so I can't comment much on that, but from the outside it looks nice.
Food and drinks: A good range of sandwiches and soup and cakes and things like that. Lovely stuff.

Yau's House
2A Well St, Great Torrington, TorringtonIgnore reviews saying they serve small portions!
My partner, Dan, ordered from here tonight and I have to say the food far exceeded expectations. You can tell the food is cooked to order not all pre made. It's fresh and crispy, simply delicious! This isn't a fast food takeaway away, this is closer to restaurant quality than fast food and I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered crispy beef, prawn toast, lemon chicken, duck , spring rolls, chicken balls, prawn crackers and special fried rice.
We have enough food for dinner tonight as well as lunch and dinner tomorrow! We way over ordered due to reading reviews on portion sizes and I can assure anyone reading this you do not need to order extra, the portion sizes are more than adequate and for the price and quality that's served, it's an absolute steal!
Customer service was exemplary , very friendly, good communication as well as a friendly atmosphere. You can see the chefs in back cooking in what looks to be an immaculate kitchen! Very, very impressed.
When reading reviews remember people love to moan and most people can only be bothered to write bad reviews and often they fib a little bit in their bad reviews because they're annoyed! Take those ones with a pinch of salt because this establishment is worth every penny!
A new favourite and will definitely be back.
For reference you can see less than half the food we ordered in the pictures and I also have 13 years experience of working in the food service industry so my review is backed up by experience and knowledge of this industry! As far as Chinese style takeaway goes, this is one of the best I've had in Devon.
