Andria
5 Lower St, DartmouthI can honestly say the meal I had last night was amazing. I had not booked and was solo dining but that was no problem (normally I am certain booking would be essential). The restaurant is a lovely experience and has a very relaxed atmosphere with a great selection of music at just the right volume.
Food is small plates and the recommended 2-3 plates was perfect, I added a side and dessert and small appetiser. Dishes are served in order as they appear on the menu. Each was absolutely delicious and were complemented by a delicious Italian red. Service was friendly and came with great explanations of the dishes.

The Seahorse Restaurant
5 S Embankment, DartmouthOur host Charlie was fantastic - we were the only diners in the restaurant for the first hour and a half and he looked after us in an exemplary fashion. He was charming, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is such a lovely room to sit in and being the only ones there we could fully appreciate the artwork and even ask about it. Charlie was very knowledgeable and informative. The oysters were superb, the monkfish risotto rich and layered with every ingredient noticeable from the flecks of fresh parsley to the monkfish stock. The lemon sole was amazing and the fresh tartare sauce a triumph. The courgette frito was gorgeous as was the delicate fennel heart. The taleggio was generously served and the ‘table focaccia’ was a perfect accompaniment. Loved all of it and the meal offer was a perfect lure to get my mum to go and of course we spent well and enjoyed everything. Thank you all so much.

The Ship Inn
Higher St, Kingswear, DartmouthFantastic pub for playing darts and having a great time. They have a good food menu and selection of drinks. Highly recommend chatting with Andy if you want to have a good time. They have two dart boards, one is in a great spot with excellent lighting, the other is on a slanted wall and more for decoration than serious playing. Awesome place overall ??

Embankment Bistro
S Embankment, DartmouthFabulous food! Fabulous service! Fabulous views! I had the catch of the day on both my visits. The staff were friendly, warm and helpful. I'm not used to eating fish straight from the sea but bravely gave it a go - so glad I did! Absolutely delicious! Perfect with a crisp white wine and overlooking the bobbing boats on the Estuary - and was lovely as dusk came with the twinkling lights emerging as you melted in the atmosphere. Other restaurants are set back across the road so if you want to treat yourself or someone special then the vista over the water is a rare treat worth the extra. I was delightfully seduced by the classic old style music that further transcended the dining experience. All my Newbie to fresh fish questions answered fully and food arrived in good time which was cooked perfectly and balanced superbly with delicate complimentary flavours. Can't wait to go back. Keep up the good work!

Seven Stars
8 Smith St, DartmouthGreat location, central to Dartmouth, but off the touristy footpath… so it’s more genuine… and clearly been a pub for… a few (or more) hundred years.
Low ceiling, timber frame, friendly staff, great local beers, and amazing food.
Highly recommend the mussels… they were soft, tender and beautiful, in a lovely white wine and cream sauce, with shallots and samphire (I think… I’m not the chef, but that’s my best guess).
Highly recommended.

The Cherub Inn
13 Higher St, DartmouthA beautiful pub located in Dartmouth. It is small, with only about 7 tables, and I was very lucky to nab a table so that I could order some food. Only one member of staff working one small bar so you have to be patient as she also has to go up and down the stairs for the food. A good selection of food available and as this is a CAMRA pub you have a good selection of real ales as well. I ordered the Hunters Chicken and had some Reverend James ale whilst I waited for my food. It’s a very friendly pub with an open fire, original beams and very dog friendly. My food arrived and I was very happy with how it looked. I was blown away by how it tasted and loved every single bite of it. The chicken was amazing, the bacon and sauce enhanced everything and I cleared that plate of food. Please remember that this is a very small pub, so like I did, give up your table once you have eaten and stand by the bar to enjoy the lovely atmosphere of the place and let someone else enjoy it as well. Highly recommend The Cherub.

Bayards Cove Inn

The Hake was well cooked and the chowder filling and flavoursome. Service was good and attentive but not overly so. Overall a good choice and if staying in Kingswear a short walk to the Lower Dart Ferry.

The Cornish Bakery

Followed by a slice of Cornish pudding which I'd happily keep going back for. Very popular spot at lunch time and I can see why, expect a short wait but the queue moves quickly.

The Crab Shell
1 Raleigh St, DartmouthBest sandwiches on the freshest granary bread I've tasted. We had hot smoked salmon with dill mayonnaise and thick cut ham with mustard and rocket. Delicious. This tiny takeaway operates from a shop window just down a side street. I was on my way to get a supermarket lunch when I spotted this. Highly recommended.

Rockfish Takeaway
28 Lower St, DartmouthAn excellent fish and chip shop based in Dartmouth. Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures of the food as I had it as takeaway and a photo wouldn’t do it justice. It’s one of the best fish and chip takeaways I’ve been to in a very long time. Throughly recommended if you happen to be in Dartmouth.

Steam Packet Inn
Fore St, Kingswear, DartmouthKingswear isn't the largest of places but The Steam Packet is worth a visit. A young brigade but the menu was full of local produce used imaginatively. Cajun squid with siracha mayo, shredded chicken with soy dipping sauce along with a beautifully plated crab bruschetta were taken. The Jail Ale was well kept, clear and bright and the Gin selection read like a map of Devon with Salcombe and Plymouth available.
