Lovely pub, lovely staff.I enjoyed my goats cheese with salad but my wife ordered pasta .The sauce was tomato only and far to sweet.My daughter had mushroom pate which very weirdly was also to sweet?also on the menu was vegetarian parmesan to go with my wife's pasta(she's vegetarian)which can be a bit confusing because parmesan is a protected name since 1996 and can only be called that if it has animal rennet
Etc ? But we do like the inn apart from some off the food unfortunately.

Here's an overlooked gem in Fremington. I've had plenty of Sunday lunches up and down the country, but this one takes the prize. Every element is cooked to perfection from the sweet red cabbage, through the chef's whole grain mustard carrots, to the superb slow cooked pork belly. The homemade gravy, excellent roasties, and cauliflower cheese add to this superb package. All cooked by the landlady's son. A large plate is only £15, you won't get a better lunch anywhere else for twice that much. Faith, the landlady, gives a warm welcome and runs a tight ship. If you haven't been, stop reading this and book in now! The pub needs a little modernisation but don't we all? Excellent meal in an authentic pub and dog friendly, too.

Five of us and the dog popped in this morning, after three ran at the Barnstaple parkrun, and whilst having a few days in Devon. We sat on one of the coloured benches outside. Just after we ordered, the heavens opened! All hands on deck for the staff - they rushed out to set up a table for us under the covered entrance, out of the rain. They could not have been more helpful. Not only that, the food was plentiful and delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient, even though it was very busy (and wet until the sun returned!). We would certainly recommend a visit if you are in Barnstaple. Thanks to all the staff.

Every time I have visited the cafe both Hannah and alix have been so smiley and welcoming. Always made us feel valued and important. The food is out of this world and service is very quick even during busy times! No matter how busy they are the food never changes always delivered to you hot. The decoration of the cafe is just so cute and warm!! Such an amazing environment and will definitely be returning!

I recently dined at The Castle Pub in Landkey. The food was excellent, with generous portions. The service was lacking, though I believe this was due to inexperience rather than poor service. I shared the rib platter and the burger, and both were very good. The evening concluded with a cheesecake and ice cream dessert. Unfortunately, the dessert was served on a hot plate, causing the ice cream to melt before being served. Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience and would not hesitate to eat here again.

We arrived on holiday this Saturday, and booked and went to the jack Russell for Sunday lunch. I have to say that the food and service was excellent!!!!! We have been on holiday all over Britain, and this was by far the BEST Sunday roast we have tasted. They do a large or small one, and the choices of veg was tremendous. Big big thanks to you all at the jack Russell, coming back to see you weds.

Absolutely love greenlanes cafe, you have a wide variety of food and drinks on the menu, all freshly cooked and so yummy, I love their big vienese biscuits they are so yummy with a latte

Vegetarian options: Veg chilli is a special and with hash browns and sour cream dip on top, ohhh my goodness, mouth watering so delicious, I'm not a vegetarian but I will quite happy sit and eat a full vegetarian meal

Dietary restrictions: If you have any dietary requirements all you have to do is tell them, easy as that, if there is some thing they can't take out they will let you know, before they cook your meal

Kid-friendliness: Highchairs, toilets, kids menu they welcome children with open arms, pushchair friendly

Had a meal here for the first time a few weeks ago. (Hubby booked online easily) Myself & my husband really enjoyed it. Hubby had the hugest burger, 'The Big 48' which had plenty there! I had the 'Gonzo chicken' & they were happy to remove the bacon for me. All tasted lovely & the homemade slaw was lovely too!

In the restaurant, staff were attentive and friendly, you get given a little box you can tap for service so you can reorder drinks etc..(saves the awkward trying to get the attention of the waiters/waitresses to get another drink!)...(At least one part of Barnstaple is modern?)

There's a pool table and games at the front of the restaurant if you want to hang out with mates and have a drink too before your meal, or just go in for drinks.

Overall fab, will defo revisit. Lovely meal, nice wine & beers too, friendly staff and nice surroundings.

Kid-friendliness: There is a children's menu available.

Wheelchair accessibility: Yes I would say this place is very accessible with a wheelchair. Ground floor access.

I met sue and john vary luckily thrue a friend in work as i was sleeping in the car to go to work out of the kindness of there heart looked after me and got me accommodation. But what i did not expect how talented Sue is in the kitchen and john comes for a chat at the end of the evening. And there wonderful staff every single one of them a smile and a chat to make ur evening more pleasant and oh my if you havent yet then try there sunday lunch ??❤️‍? ive never had anything better 11/10 thanks again for everything vary lucky to meet new friends in the stags head inn

thank you so much for putting on the children's party on nye, it was fabulous and we would definitely come again. my daughter enjoyed all the activities you provide and I enjoyed time to catch up with a friend.
