Dale Abbey, IlkestonWith a day off work we decided that a local(ish) trip out was called for. We hadn't really got anywhere in mind and then I remembered this lovely little tea room in the heart of Dale Abbey. It's off what could be described as the main road in the village (the road is even called 'The Village') but be aware that this road is very narrow when busy. There is a small amount of parking in site, though if it is even remotely busy in the tea room you will probably find yourself parking on the road. The tea room itself is lovely. It really encapsulates what I would consider to be the heart of the village. Everyone seems to know everyone else, even though im sure that is not the case - it is merely the feeling you get when people are so polite and welcoming. That must be said about the staff. They are all lovely. The selection of cakes and scones (home made, each and every one) is impressive and I csn vouch for the the fact that they taste great too. One thing you need to be wary off is this places opening times. It is pretty 'fluid' it is fair to say, however you can always check in advance on their website. Its a beautiful place in a beautiful village, and I would urge anyone passing through (or even remotely close by) to pop in and enjoy it for themselves
