The Flying Childers Inn
Main Rd, Stanton in Peak, MatlockA lovely warm welcome from the landlord. We arrived just before they closed for after lunch. We were welcomed in for a drink. After asking if they had some taxi numbers, the landlord kindly obliged and said if we wanted to wait there until they arrived, we were very welcome. Also let us have another drink and order food. You couldn't ask for more than that. A great pint and food. 10/10

The Peacock at Rowsley
Bakewell Rd, Rowsley, MatlockMy wife and I had a wonderful two-night stay here for our minimoon. The Peacock is a centuries-old coaching inn owned by the Haddon family in the green and rolling Derbyshire Dales. These are a great location for fishing, walking and cycling — trails lead off the doorstep of the hotel to the Monsal Trail and Bakewell. While I was expecting cosy surroundings, good service and comfortable rooms (which the Peacock certainly has), I was taken aback by the outstanding dinner. The à la carte menu was locally sourced, inventive and flavoursome. Another benefit is free access to Haddon Hall, well worth visiting.

Chatsworth Kitchen
Peak shopping Village, Chatsworth Rd, Rowsley, MatlockLove this place. It's a slight cut above without being too expensive and certainly not snooty.
We did have a slight issue with being overlooked briefly after being seated. This was resolved nicely with an apology and terrific service.
We'll be back.
