We went for a late lunch at the end of a hike and were so impressed, the staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was delicious. Nearly all the menu is gluten free or has gluten free alternatives which was amazing. They also catered for dairy free. We will definitely be going back. The new owners are doing a good job with this lovely old pub.

Ordered lasagne as didn't want a big meal, well large slice of lasagne 4 pieces of garlic bread and a lovely salad and service was good, can't comment to much on atmosphere as not many in at the time
Old fashioned pub that wouldn't suit younger patrons but I loved it.

The Barley Mow Inn

Main St, Kirk Ireton, Ashbourne

As I'm staying in the area I just had to revisit this old place. Probably nearly 30 years since I was last here. (And what a mad time that was, my mate lived in the village and we were always in the bar as soon as it was opened... usually before heading into Ashbourne and getting silly drunk).
Anyway it's how I remembered it. And still jugs instead of taps. Wonderful. And good beers. Brought back some good memories.

Watermark

I love the Watermark café and gift shop, we visit pretty much every time. The selection of cakes, pasties and drinks is lovely, with sandwiches etc in the fridge and a lovely vegan sausage roll.

We also love the Mainsail Restaurant, which some visitors might not realise is upstairs, if they want a non-takeaway experience with panoramic views.

The Tiger Inn

Tiger Inn, 232 Ashbourne Rd, Turnditch, Belper

Popular local village pub with extensive menu, all items reasonably priced. If you want pie this is the place with 140 choices!! We ate dinner here twice because we enjoyed the food so much and the staff were very welcoming. Warmly recommended
