Vecchia Italia
15 Market St, Chapel-en-le-Frith, High PeakMy son brought me to this gem of a place on Mother's day, having previously been several times himself. He's raved about it! I can see why. Very traditional Italian food, which is exactly what I love. I'd choose here over the 'fancy pretentious' style Italian every time. The food and the service was fantastic. I hope this place stays busy every single day.

Al-madina Takeaway
38 Market St, Whaley Bridge, High PeakWe’ve lived in Whaley for over six years now and tried all the restaurants. If you want a reasonable curry, go to Ikrams. If you want a really good curry, go to Memories of India. If you want the best curry you’ve had in your life, go to Al-Madina. Everything is perfect, the poppadums are fresh and clearly cooked in fresh oil, the naans and rotis are to die for and the lamb is the best we’ve ever had. It’s worth moving to Whaley just for Al-Madina, never mind the fact that it’s a fabulous place to live! ?

The Master Fryer
94-96 Albion Rd, New Mills, High PeakHonestly some of the best chips I've had in a long time. Crispy, flavoursome, good sized portion - and the curry sauce was particularly tasty too. And in speaking to the owner it is clearly his passion to expertly craft his frying. He was also friendly and welcoming, giving us recommendations for the local area. If you prefer a soggy chip that sticks to the paper then maybe give it a miss. But if you like a crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, double-fried chip, then I can heartily recommend The Master Fryer.

Colosseo
1 Steeple End Fold, Hayfield, High PeakA lovely Italian restaurant. I have been 3 times now since December 2024. The decor is lovely, the food is absolutely delicious, but more importantly the service is brilliant. Each time I’ve been the staff are very welcoming, professional, polite and happy. I didn’t know service could get any better, but then they excelled themselves when my friend and I couldn’t get a taxi home. They definitely went the extra mile! This is a lovely place to go and I will be going back 100%.

Frydays Cod & Cake
131 Buxton Rd, Whaley Bridge, High PeakI have been visiting Frydays for a while now. In my years out on the tools I’d call in once a week for my lunch. After changing jobs I don’t go get to visit as much as I would like to. Having said this, I’ve just had a drive out to Frydays with my family for our tea. It is hands down the best fish and chips you can get. This and the fact that the staff are always warm and welcoming and the music is always top notch too. Well worth a visit.

The Sycamore Inn
Sycamore Rd, Birch Vale, High PeakLovely little countryside pub with great restaurant. Food was good and plentiful. Waitresses couldn't do enough for us. There's a pool table too, and the pub has lovely little rooms that are enticingly cosy. Downside is the access for people with a disability. Not the fault of the establishment, but it's because of the hilly place it's situated in. Plenty of steps to negotiate once you've climbed up the hill from the car park. There are 2 disabled spots just inside the gate so you can walk to the front door but beware that the footpath at roadside is uneven. But, once inside its lovely and welcoming. And we weren't rushed to finish and leave., perfect. Another word of warning, the ladies loo is down a single flight of stairs from the restaurant, whereas the gents are on the same floor.

Rems Cafe Bar & Restaurant
29 Market St, Chapel-en-le-Frith, High PeakMy son and I went in for a few drinks over our weekend stay.
Landlord tries hard to make you feel welcome, and has created a nice atmosphere; everyone is friendly.
A great spread of age groups, and the general feel is happy.
We'd like to thank Gareth for helping us to enjoy our experience in Chapel. He even made us feel better after being treated not so well in another pub.
We'd both definitely recommend it. They even have their own very nice lager ?
