The Prince of Wales Baslow
Church Ln, Baslow, BakewellVery welcoming; staff were attentive and professional. The seating area was very comfortable & wheelchair accessible.
The food was exceptional. You are not over-faced, and good quality food and presentation. The kitchen is open plan, as to where you can see the kitchen staff at work.
We would definitely be returning!

The Robin Hood Inn
Chesterfield Rd, Baslow, BakewellCalled in here after seeing that it serves coffee and cake. After entering the pub we noticed some very comfortable chairs next to a roaring log fire. After ordering coffee and getting comfortable we decided, as it was now lunchtime, instead of cake we would have a sandwich. We ordered a ploughman's sandwich served with fries and coleslaw. We enjoyed everything and would definitely return.

Rajas Indian Restaurant
Bridge House, Bridge St, BakewellVisiting Bakewell for the weekend. From Manchester so no shortage of Indian restaurants. This was one of the best Indian meals I've had and certainly the best Biryani I've ever tasted. (lamb). Good atmosphere and top service.

The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop
The Square, BakewellQuaint popular cake and pastry shop in the centre of Bakewell. Visited last week and was surprised at how quiet it was for Friday mid pm. We had the cream tea x2 at £8 each. It was ok but definitely had better value elsewhere. The scones were a bit dry and crumbly but tasty enough. Staff very pleasant and it’s a nice enough place to spend half an hour in the afternoon.

The Devonshire Arms
Baslow, BakewellWe had had an awful journey from up north with soooo many road closures. We stopped at several pubs around 8.00pm desperate for food. The Devonshire, although the kitchen officially closed, made us superb meals served with exquisite wines and tasty beers. Proper old fashioned hospitality. We will be back. Thank you so much for refreshing two very weary and exasperated travellers.

Farmers Feast
The Agricultural Business Centre, Agricultural Way, BakewellInitially attended for the Sunday Carvery and we had paid for 3 meals. Unfortunately, my son (who is autistic) decided he didnt want a carvery and let us know at the last minute. The owner was very good and refunded us the money without any issues. I decided to give it another go the next day and have the full English breakfast (as there was no way my son would turn his nose up at that). Breakfast was a good price (£10.50) and you got bread, fried bread 2 x bacon, 2 x sausage, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and an egg. It was a good size (and I am a 6ft 16 stone bloke). I always like the atmosphere as it is busy and there are often farmers who go in there (so you know the atmosphere will be laid back and not filled with snooty stuck up people). I've been here a few times. Highly recommend for a good breakfast. Be aware it gets busy and I would suggest reserving a table if you want a carvery.
Parking: This is the best car park to choose when visiting bakewell. The other main ones, when busy, can lead you being stuck in traffic for 20 mins.

Relish
PORTLAND SQUARE, 7A Portland Square, BakewellWent here for lunch, served by a young woman who was polite and friendly. Needed to make alterations to both sandwiches from what was listed on the menu and this was done without an issue. Waited outside in the sunshine until out food was ready (just a few minutes), sandwiches were fresh and delicious.

Bakewell Fish & Chips
5 Water St, BakewellReally delicious fish & chips, I just read some other reviews before posting and maybe the restaurant has inconsistency, but for our (4 of us) fish and chips, all the fish was cooked perfectly and very tasty, also the batter was thin and crispy so not overbearing like some other batters. The chips were also great, in the restaurant at least they don't have any seasoning on by default, however there is seasoning on the table so people can choose how much they want on their chips, I quite liked this approach! Also, they had HOMEMADE tartare sauce that was absolutely delicious and they gave us a very generous portion! In the restaurant the chairs were slightly tight but the food was so good that it made up for it!

The Honey Bun Cafe
1 Water St, BakewellWe really enjoyed out afternoon snack of tea, coffee and cakes.
Very friendly staff, and delicious cake - I had the iced clice of Bakewell tart, and my friend had a cranberry, orange, and pistachio slice.
It's small, but there is lots of room inside and it certainly feels like the staff enjoy working there.
We were very glad we picked this cafe rather than one of the bigger ones!

Aisseford Tea Room
Church St, Ashford in the Water, BakewellWe went with 2 babies, a child and 2 dogs, the staff practically bent over backwards to make sure we had a table we fitted at and everyone had what they needed to enjoy our breakfasts.
Kid-friendliness: Plenty of options on the menu that are appealing to children, and they were happy to do a smaller portion. Our pushchair fitted in nicely and they found a spot for us to put it out of the way so we could have a highchair at the table. The staff made the 3 year old with us feel very much part of the ordering process and even brought us a cloth to help the de-stickying process after maple syrup pancakes!

Haddon Hall
The Estate Office, Haddon Hall, BakewellAn unplanned trip here turned out to be a hit. Parking paid by card upon exit. At the entrance there is a shop with beekeeping and bee-related products. Derbyshire residents can visit Haddon Hall on the River Wye with up to 30% off discount tickets. This country manor house, still inhabited, is one of the oldest in England and has been in the hands of one family from the beginning. It belongs to the Duke of Rutland and his brother, Lord Edward Manners, lives there.
The beginnings of the building date back to the 12th century. Today, there is still a large fragment of the defensive wall preserved from that period (a narrow corridor with loopholes on both sides). The current appearance of the manor is the result of its expansion between the 13th and 17th centuries. The chapel was completed in 1427. It served as a church for the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. It is the Anglican church of Nether Haddon, the smallest parish in England. A large area of medieval paintings and stained glass windows can be seen on the walls.
The Haddon Park surrounding the estate survived intact from the Middle Ages (then a deer park) until 1782, when part of its area was devoted to arable fields.
Everything here is breathtaking: a fantastic experience of beauty, authenticity and history.
Only the restaurant adjacent to the residence disappointed us with the taste of cold dishes served (hard potatoes, sour meat in the hamburger, steak not in one piece but cut into thin slices). Decor and service ok.
Nobody has to eat here, but don't skip it, don't waste your time or money, you SHOULD come here and see everything for yourself.
I definitely recommend it ?

The Bulls Head
Church St, Monyash, BakewellCame in for a drink and truly couldn’t recommend the pub highly enough! Both Mia and Harry both bent over backwards to make sure I felt attended to. The atmosphere is so welcoming and warm you won’t regret coming in even for a drink like I did but the food smelt amazing! Will 100% try next time I’m here.
Would once again like to thank the team for their service and amazing attentiveness

Fischer's Baslow Hall
Calver Rd, Baslow, BakewellSo much hospitality! Hands down this is the best service I’ve ever received in any hotel; I felt quite spoiled. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped for self pampering. The lounge was a quiet place for tea or a little socializing before the exquisite multi course meal. The gardens were impeccable and evident in every meal. Fischer’s was my first experience in the UK and I will definitely return as it is unforgettable. Much gratitude to Neil, Otto, Michael, Jennifer and John, not to mention the entire chef staff- they are delightful people.
Food and drinks: The experience of a lifetime was to sit privy at the kitchen bench while watching the chefs create and design our gorgeous dinner. Such thoughtfulness in each course and presentation, as well as how we were treated as honored guests. John is a one of a kind chef-host and true food artist.

The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley
High St, Pilsley, BakewellAgain the Devonshire at Pilsley did not disappoint! We visited on this occasion for an 80th birthday meal and we were treated exceptionally well. The staff definitely made it very special and, even though there was a mix up with the table request, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The food, as always was impeccable especially the desserts! We would definitely recommend the Devonshire at Pilsley whatever your celebration or occasion.
