Lake Rd, Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermerewhat a great place. we visited on our trip this week and so glad we came. the food was delicious, the staff what a friendly bunch. the two ladies who served us were so friendly and simply couldn't do enough for us. we've not had customer service like this for years. the pizzas were delicious and the tiramisu and profiteroles were divine. if we ever come to bowness again you'll be our first place to visit

Ellerthwaite Square, WindermereWe recently visited Hooked, and it was nothing short of brilliant. A lovely small restaurant with a fantastic menu of freshly caught fish. My girlfriend has some dietary requirements which Leigha was very helpful with, and explained in great detail what she could and couldn't eat on the menu, and what could be adapted to suit. A really enjoyable evening, and we will no doubt be back.

Crook Road, WindermereLoved our evening at Gilpin Source. Tasting menu but with 3 choices for starter, main and desert and a separate menu for those of us that had says we were pescatarian. Some good veggie options and with advanced notice you can get vegetarian or vegan menus. They also kindly remembered and dealt with the fact I can’t eat cheese or chocolate. The fact that this is a tasting menu but with an element of choice meant that we all got to pick dishes suited to our own taste. Every single course was spectacular, lovely attention to detail, fresh and delicious. The sommelier was very knowledgable and picked something suitable by the glass for each of our different requirements. Arrived at 6pm for drinks in the bar, promptly seated at 6:45 and we didn’t leave till after 10. Can’t recommend enough for a special night out.

Amazing hot drinks as well (flat white/latte). Everything was perfect and the service was quick and polite- there was also nice varied music at a good volume!
Wheelchair accessibility: No steps to get inside, but the washrooms are downstairs.

The Lamplighter Dining Rooms
High St, WindermereOnce again we had an fantastic experience at the Lamplighters! 11 of us enjoyed a choice of Sunday dinners and desserts - fantastic choice of veg all piping hot and plenty of it. Let's not forget the Cauliflower cheese...perfection in a bowl! All staff are lovely and ensured everything ran smoothly...more than highly recommended 5*!

An absolutely beautiful venue great service good music fantastic drinks and a real fire. We didn't have food but people around us were saying how nice it was. Sadly because it's just off from the main 'strip' it could be in danger of closing which would be a real shame please give it a try you won't be disappointed!

The Lakeview Restaurant at Macdonald Old England Hotel
23 Church St, Bowness-on-Windermere, WindermereOld fashioned interior, which I think let's the atmosphere down somewhat. Needs modernisation.
The service was very good.
The food... the mozzarella was a little dry. The crayfish was fine. We both had the beef however, outstanding job, outstanding. Beef was perfectly cooked and the mash was super smooth. I'd like a little more gravy but that's just me. Cheesecake was a little pretentious with paintbrushed chocolate sauce on the plate. It's perfectly good without it.
Just need to sort out the look and feel of the place really.

As you enter the premises, the smell of perfectly cooked pastries, Wafd and dance up your nostrils. The coffee is tease, hot drinks cakes, another sweet sundries are all on display for you to see in neat glass cabinets. I would recommend the quality breakfast meal deal where you can get a hot drink and a warm breakfast roll or a personal highlight. Overall a very good dining experience on a budget. Will visit again. Steak bake.

The service was very friendly, and they were very eager to assist with one of our group who has a progressive disability. Toilets are upstairs in this place they assisted getting our group member back down. We thought the place was slightly on the expensive side! However due to the quality we were happy to pay this as a treat! I highly recommend the Magic roundabout because although for us it was expensive the quality and service is spot on!

Service started a little slow, but when our waiter swapped we got very quick and friendly service. The pizzas were delicious, kids' menu was accommodating and they've gone to a lot of effort on little touches (e.g Halloween decorations, lollipops for the kids with the bill etc). I'd gladly go back if in the area again

I spent ages scouring for somewhere to eat in the area on our weekend stay.
Lots of places are trying to be something they’re not and judging by reviews failing to do so. In the end we decided on pizza and I’m glad we did!
This place has a relatively simple, no fuss menu with some exciting daily specials at reasonable prices.
We were seated straight away on a Saturday evening and eating the delicious pizza not too long after. After living in Italy we’ve become quite snobby about pizza and this did not disappoint.
Really friendly service too, would not hesitate to return! ?

Cedar Manor
Ambleside Rd, WindermereWe recently enjoyed a stay at The Coach House at Cedar Manor, and it was just perfect. Peace, luxury, and incredible service. The Coach House is a perfect spot for a calming get away yet you have the hustle and bustle of Windermere town a 10 minute walk away, with Bowness within easy reach too.
The private breakfast experience at The Coach House was nothing short of incredible, and made us feel truly valued as guests. A must visit for any lover of luxury.

As a vegan I really appreciated the amount of menu items that could be veganised for me- the vegan feta on the avo toast is the best I've ever had. Reasonably priced too and the portions were very generous. Can also recommend the HG Hash Browns- we all shared some as a table and they were fantastic!

Friendly staff, great food - burgers, toasties, etc, snacks and drinks. I recommend the rice-based veggie burger with cheese and fried onions, in a big white floured bap. Delightful covered outdoor seating area, with very tame wild birds. Your Lake District experience isn't complete without a visit to Dan's Shack.
