Aikton Arms
Aikton, WigtonGreat service, lovely food at a reasonable price. I had battered cauliflower, served with minted peas and chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding. My hubby had the mac n cheese served with home beans, followed by plum eton mess. Everything was delicious.
The pub is also dog friendly.

Greggs
3 King St, WigtonIt's a Gregg's. I haven't a huge amount to say. The food is nice if you're looking to eat on the go. They do a good coffee and bacon roll for less than £3 deal which is good. Conveniently located on the high street. The only downside was the service seemed to be painfully slow.

Royas
3 Eden St, Silloth, WigtonVisiting the area and decided to try the pizza takeaway despite the mixed reviews. Two veggie pizzas which were both good. I could see why they get some bad reviews as arriving at their takeaway, they seem completely disorganised meaning deliveries are missed or late but the pizza is good which is a shame. If you can then collect rather than depend on delivery and make sure they know you are waiting stating your order name. Ours sat on the top of the oven for 5 minutes until I asked. Good lads trying their best and making good pizza . Give them a chance

Emily's Black Lion
The Square, WigtonMain courses were delicious, the only big let down were the deserts, Nutella sundae with whipped cream, it isn't a sundae without ice-cream and sticky toffee pudding with whipped cream, when stated on menu vanilla ice-cream , with no discount because of alternative, should of came out to say they had run out of ice-cream

Hare & Hounds
10 West St, WigtonGreat pub. As a visitor to the area, I was a bit apprehensive of going to a 'locals pub' but I'm so glad I did! Everyone was welcoming and the fire was fantastic on a wet day. Overwhelmed by the kindness and hospitality if the landlady. Fab place, cant wait to return someday.

Shuhag
33 King St, WigtonMe and my dad stayed in Allonby for 4 nights this week and decided to get a takeaway from here, their place is about 20 minutes from where we were staying and they still delivered to us. The food arrived at the time they said it would and they were honestly the best curries we have ever had, and this is coming from people that eat Indian curries every week from various Indian takeaways. Absolutely sensational! Top quality, fresh, good portions and just exquisite in flavour, could not recommend enough!!

The Oddfellows Arms Caldbeck
Caldbeck, WigtonWent for lunch on a very wet Tuesday and found the pub and staff very welcoming and busy. Had booked a table and were shown to a reserved table by a very welcoming blazing fire. We were selected from a wide menu and our meals brought very promptly. Very tasty and plenty of it.
Spoke to a couple who were staying for a few days there and heartily recommended it, clean and comfortable. We have booked a room there next year and were doing a check and will definitely go and eat there too. Leighton helpful with food service and drinks and as the manager very friendly and helpful. Recommend the pub for a drink and or a meal after a wet walk or on a sunny day!

Ye Olde Greyhound Inn
Bromfield, WigtonHow have we not been here before! We both had sirloin steaks and both agreed that they were the best steaks we had had in years. Cooked to perfection. We followed with toffee apple crumble and custard. I was stuffed! Nice beer at hand and the staff( of which there were plenty on duty) were friendly and attentive. We will be back.

Stellas Bistro
Park Terrace, The Green View Guest House, 6, Criffel St, Silloth, WigtonWonderful host, food was superb, great pricing, atmosphere was pleasant - however the downside is how quiet it feels. We were in the dining area with 1 other couple but it almost felt like we were nervous to chew or speak too loudly. I’d recommend perhaps if only one or two tables are booked - having the music louder to die out the silence so you can feel more comfortable talking near other strangers in a small space, and adding another table in the middle of the room to make it feel more like a restaurant?
