Howtown Tea Room
Howtown hotel, HowtownWe had walked from glenridding to Howtown and planned to get the water ferry back, but they had all been cancelled due to bad weather so we were stranded with no signal in awful weather conditions. We walked up to the tearooms which was closed but found a lovely lady called Diane who let us shelter in the closed tea rooms while she arranged a taxi for us and provided us with refreshments while we waited, staying later than she should of! We cannot thank her enough for her kindness and generosity in such a stressful time! Thank you very much!!

Rampsbeck Restaurant
Rampsbeck Grange, Watermillock, PenrithThis was one of the best 3 course meals I have had. Each dish was bursting with flavour with sensible sized portions. The hake was on pickled fennel which paired superbly with the prawn in pasta. The rhubarb was amazing. I will difinitely be back for the food. Sadly the edge was taken off the perfection by the 10% service charge added to the bill (our dinner was included in our room rate but the 10% service charge was not) and the service itself was a bit patchy. I just hope the chefs got part of the service charge

TJ’s Bar & Restaurant
Howtown, PenrithWe visited the restaurant for our first time, the food was exceptional and the staff were really friendly. The fish and chips was outstanding. The only disappointment was they don’t accept cash! It is not illegal to use cash so why not accept it? We are not a cashless society!
