First having jam sponge n a brew and today sharing a prawn sandwich with my elderly mam..... they are so accommodating love the fact it's dog friendly but the food and ambience is super and the staff just go over and above ..... its our favourite place ..... brilliant

The Stag Inn

A lovely traditional village pub serving great food and beer. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime, and there were multiple roasts on offer as well as other options. The roast dinners were excellent with plenty of it. My wife thought the Steak Pie was the best she'd ever had and again plenty of it. Desserts were again very good and homemade with the chocolate brownie and cheesecake highly recommended. We were a party of 10 and the service was very good with friendly staff. Overall, we were very impressed.

What a place. It is decorated very cute and the service is friendly. We had a scone, an espresso and a hot chocolate. It really is the best hot chocolate I've ever had. Highly recommended if you are in Maryport!

Just heard they're closing. This tea room has been my go to for the most delicious vegan breakfast everytime I visit this coastline. I meet up with a pal and they have the nut roast. We've just loved the atmosphere and the service here and will miss it very much. My very best wishes to staff and owners for wherever life takes them (and hoping they'll change their mind!)

Dietary restrictions: Excellent vegan options. Generous portions. Best vegan breakfast anywhere.

Had a wonderful visit today, wish we knew the name of the member of staff we spoke to - he was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and clearly loved his job and the various creatures on display. We've been a few times and will certainly be back. All other staff where lovely too Inc cafe staff (food lovely and reasonably priced)

If you have a dog with a disability - our small yorkipoo had surgery to both hind legs 2 weeks ago - don't visit this cafe. It says Dog friendly on the door but we went in with our Yorkipoo in a small dog buggy today and a rude woman working there came over to us and fiercely told us we would have to put him on the floor under the table, he could not stay in his buggy. stating 'it wasn't allowed!' I told her he had just had surgery on both hind legs so he couldn't possibly go on the floor and she showed no sympathy compassion or even common courtesy at all. The customers sitting by the table our friends had reserved for us said they had no problem with the buggy being beside them, but she said she had a problem with it, so we left. I must point out that it wasn't easy to leave the cafe as there was a HUGE child's pram in the way of the door!! So, obviously it was not due to a health and safety regulation that we wasn't allowed to stay; as no one was evacuatiing past that buggy in the doorway if there was a fire! Tbh if she had come over and said, with regret, 'oh I'm sorry but we can't allow dogs in the cafe in a buggy' I would have taken it much better, but instead she was rude, aggressive and according to all in our party she seemed to be an out and out 'dog hater.' If you want a true dog friendly place for your lunch in Maryport visit The Marina View Café; the staff are wonderful and the food is amazing!

Cross Quays Chip Shop

We were staying in Allonby and found the Cross Quays in Maryport, just down the road. Staff were very friendly, food was cooked fresh in front of me, and was piping hot and delicious. Very reasonable prices and quick, polite service. They weren't taking card payments when we visited, so maybe make sure you have cash. But the Fish and Chips, Scampi and Chips, and mushy peas were delicious and in very generous portions - exactly what we needed after a big walk in the Lakes. Thank you!

Called here as this Chinese takeaway came highly recommended. Phone ahead for collection is currently the best way for collection or delivery. No instore ordering is possible. Cash only. Remember your order number to make things easier.The food was ready in less than 25mins, so super fast.Superb food as well, the salt and pepper ribs were large and very meaty. The mains were very tasty and no tough meat in any of them.Highly recommended, will definitely use Wongs again.

Called in for a pint. There was a singer on, and did she have a strong voice. Excellent entertainment for a wee while on a Sunday afternoon. I'll call in again if I'm passing. We popped in on Saturday night to see about something to eat. It advertises food outside. One of the staff told us that the kitchen was closed whilst undergoing renovation. Friendly and helpful staff.
