Main St, TunstallPlace was cozy and the staff were nice! Food was a bit lacking unfortunately. We ordered the veg parmesan soup, the spinach and ricotta lasagna and flatbread. The soup was a bit bland, could do with some croutons and a softer sourdough like bread for dipping. The lasagne was too crusty, little sauce and could use more spinach as we only tasted ricotta. We ordered sticky toffee pudding for dessert and that was an absolute hit! Perfectly moist cake, with flavourful toffee sauce, thoroughly enjoyed!

New Rd, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthFabulous lunch menu. The kids and hubby love the pizzas and I go for a Halloumi salad. Fresh and tasty. Great atmosphere and they have space for me to take my laptop and work for a few hours.

It’s only Monday but they still manage to have 4 cask ales on - 3 of them brewed locally.
If visiting for the first time - do visit St Mary’s churchyard directly behind the Sun.

The Red Dragon
Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthStayed for one night for a whistle-stop visit to the Lakes, followed by football at Fleetwood. The hotel is ideally suited for both, as well as the Yorkshire Dales and Kirby Lonsdale is a very pretty village. Parking isn’t great in the town, with only 1 hour permitted between 8am and 6:30pm. We arrived at just after 6:30 pm and managed to find the last space around the corner with both car parks nearby full. I moved the car in the morning and got one of the few spaces remaining in the Market Square. The Red Dragon was great to stay in and we were very happy with the room and the provision of extras such as water, biscuits and a fan. Slept well, although the duvet was a little thick for me in the summer. The only real downside was that the water was barely warm in the morning and too cold to bath or shower so really I should have reduced my rating but hoping this was a one-off as not mentioned before. Sky Sports in the room would have been nice too. Food in the bar was good, pretty basic, but ticked our boxes and breakfast was good too. . We would definitely stay again to use as a base for exploring the area.

The crossing point cafe
7 Market Square, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthWe stopped by for a quick bite of lunch and it was one of the tastiest toasties I'd had! Service was so friendly and the atmosphere of the place is super welcoming and warm. Fabulous selection of wines too!

Number Nine Bar & Kitchen
9 Market St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthWe stopped off in Kirby Lonsdale on the way home from a holiday in the North Lakes, and were drawn into this place by two signs: 'dog friendly' and 'coffee and cake, £5'. Whilst 'inside Number Nine', we were told we could sit anywhere we liked and, whilst waiting to be served, we discussed the decor and atmosphere, which were both very pleasant. We were served by a lovely, cheerful lady who took our order, and a friendly male who brought treats for our 3 dogs.
We ordered lattes, which were delicious and actually hot, unlike in some places where your order is cold by the time it reaches the table). We had a choice of carrot cake or Victoria Sponge. I chose the sponge, which was light, fluffy and moist, and had a taste of my partner's carrot cake, which was also delicious!
Overall, this was a lovely place with friendly, efficient staff and great value for money.
Vegetarian options: Lots of options to choose from. We are both veggies and wished we hlcould have stayed long enough to try the veggie meals.

The Orange Tree

Bar Avanti, 57 Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthIt's a warm and welcoming Italian/Spanish/Med restaurant with a good selection of pizza, pasta, meat and fish dishes and a gorgeous selection of wine. Good food, a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
Parking: Short stay street parking outside but best option is the paid public parking at the Market Square.

64 Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthFantastic haven in the middle of Kirkby Lonsdale. Outside area is covered, with both fans and electric heaters for use in different weather conditions. Staff lovely. Whole decor is so inventive and newly refurbished. Highly recommend.

Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthHighly recommended...A beautiful meal. Onion bhaji to start. Succulent and crispy. Delicious. I had king Prawn bhuna.my wife had chicken tikka rogan josh. We asked for both to be 'madras hot' they were both very spicy and superbly delicious. Plus 2 pilau rice, a bombay potatoes and a peshawar naan... A bottle of wine, less than £16. The restaurant was clean and the service first rate. Altogether a lovely experience. The bill was £68.45.. Inc wine. Excellent value.

50 Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthHad nice coffee and lovely home baked cakes at this busy little spot, parts of which are in what is obviously a rather old building with lots of history. Young staff were pleasant and efficient. Bit of a queue to pay on the way out, which caused a delay and crowding at the counter. Surprised the waiting-on staff aren't used to take payments, but apart from this minor niggle, five stars.

Jingling Lane Chippy
Jingling Ln, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthThe JL Chippy is a great go to. The fish is supremely fresh and cooked in a light batter that has not a single ounce of grease. Full flavored and the chips are equally delicious. This is clearly not a low calorie option but worth every additional km on the running machine.
The team running the shop (which has the clinically clean feeling or a McLaren garage or hospital operating theatre) are great fun, kind and efficient. Well done. Well run. Well executed and great value for money.
Cod and chips is the go to but everything on the menu is fresh and high quality.

The food was delicious, particularly the Hake and scallop tagliatelle with a creamy lobster glace sauce. Great value for money.

Food was not very good dried up frozen style chips watery curry with medioca ingredients rice wasnt okay, not hard to go wrong with realyy come ome on.Cash only which I don't mind as long as we all pay our taxes. Very under average food not for me sorry, I suggest you don't waste your money cook at home or have a bag of crisps be much better.
