Popped in for lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere within a beautiful old building.

I had the Fish Finger Sandwich with Chips and a glass of Coke and really enjoyed it, even with my wife pinching my chips ?

Great value for money and good customer service.

The Sun Inn

Lovely pub - visited in October, roaring fire, seats outside if the weather's up to it, dog friendly (with dog treats in the menu) and good food. Visited a couple of times during our week here, would return if in the area.

The Cottage Kitchen

I stopped by on Thursday and inquired about gluten free scones (I’m English, but live in the United States). Unfortunately, they were out, but the chef stepped out and said he would make some and I could come back by later on that day or the next day. I went by just before they closed on the same day and the chef had made both fruit and cheese scones! As they were closing I picked some up to take away. They were excellent! I loved them so much, I returned with my spouse and cousin for breakfast the next day (also excellent) and we bought 3 different gf desserts (all absolutely fantastic!). Not only was the entire staff understanding and incredibly nice (they all went far above and beyond), the food is outstanding and the scones and desserts are not to be missed. I give The Cottage Kitchen food and staff my absolute highest recommendation.
For people not concerned with gluten I still give the Cottage Kitchen my highest recommendation as the food is absolutely outstanding. The breakfasts were fabulous and the desserts are sinfully delicious.

Loads cheaper than TescoFood was well stocked upHad everything I need for a full shopOnly one down fall when you got bags and bags of shoppingYou got no parking had to walk with loads of bags to car park felt like miles away you defo need a car parkFirst time I've been to your store in Kendal as we live in Millom but I'll be back lol thank you for a well stocked store ....

Pizza Express

I have been coming to this pizza express for many years and due to the brands awareness of allergies I have been to many others across the country. In my personal opinion this is my favourite pizza express in the country.

They always have lovely and clearly motivated staff and the food is always cooked and prepared to a very high standard.

We are always very impressed with the staff and their friendliness and chattiness is certainly an influencing factor on our loyalty over the years.

There are probably too many staff to name all of the ones who have made our meals extra special but currently Lizzy and Sam are real stand outs and we are always especially excited when we find out they are serving us. All of the staff should be very proud of the unmatched atmosphere and culture they have fostered in Kendal’s pizza express

Vegetarian options: The vegan dishes in particular always go down well even when we aren’t vegan

Dietary restrictions: Pizza express are always really good with allergies but the Kendal branch takes it to the next level in terms of understanding and making allergies feel like a non event

Pappy's Texas Barbeque (The Old Smokehouse)

No room in the main restaurant but not a problem. They found space in the external dining area which is down the lane and is in a marquee with plenty heat on. Not sure I would want to be in there in the middle of winter though. So book up first.
Think there was a little issue with staff on the night so not as attentive as you would expect. We even had to go and find someone to pay for our meal.
Non of this put us off because the food was exceptional and I would return next time.

Wilf's Cafe ( since 1997)

Had a quick stop off on our walk for brunch blt & coffee. It was perfect seating by the waterfall outside. Sun was shining (yes really) ? lovely staff atmosphere was good. Enjoyed it ☺️?☕?️

19 The Wine Bar

The Brexit sinking ship forced me to find solace in the grog, only to end up in a vegan restaurant, might as well have fed me to a tribe of cannibals. In all seriousness though the remainders are worse than chain smokers, who at least smoke outside and do not prop up the bar talking about the bygone days of EU compliant sausages ;)

Armstrong Ward

Items ordered on line and each item had been individually wrapped and arrived in perfect condition, including the two mugs! I would not hesitate to recommend Armstrong Ward, the products are so well chosen and of such good quality but there is something for every budget. It almost feel like you’re receiving a gift in the post by the way it is packaged. Thank you ?

Eastern Balti Restaurant - Kendal

Best Indian in Kendal, the tandoori chicken masala curry is the best I’ve ever had, from anywhere. Everyone is so welcoming & kind too. Always come here for my Indian & always will. ?

Geno's Pizzeria

We had ordered a takeaway for 6 people so quite a large order & they had sent a free garlic bread (im assuming as a thank you for the big order) & the food was almost perfect ? only thing was the burgers were smaller than we thought but i think thats more our fault :) will definitely be using again in the future

Fast service always with a smile when delivered also very friendly in shop and good use of manners on the phone food was fantastic and still piping hot when arrived

Tannery Bar & Bistro

We had drinks, lunch and dinner for 2-3 days and loved the food, the bar, and eating on the deck overlooking the river. The scenery is terrific and the remodeled decor and deck were very comfortable.
There were problems and confusion with food service everyday we were there, but the remodeling had just been completed, so some reorganizing was be expected. At times we saw pretty aggravated staff members trying their best.
It was often hard to get any service at all on the deck as the bartender was expected to wait on tables (forget about clearing and cleaning them) as well as tend bar. I know running a restaurant is tough, and hiring seasonal staff must be even worse. I have no suggestions about how to improve, other than to say hire more staff!!! We very much enjoyed the food and drinks, and the atmosphere.
We never did get to eat in the newly remodeled dining room. There was never enough staff to wait tables, but it couldn't have been better than the deck. However, had the weather been rainy or cold, this review might be quite different! Cheers. I do hope we are able to return some time.

Really good portion sizes and prices are bang on! Good quality sausage and bacon used ?
Just a bit more attention to cooking, my hash browns were barely cooked and the bacon was way over cooked hence 4 stars ?

Costa Coffee

The staff was only interested in chatting to the young girl in the queue behind me. I had to give him my order 3 times as he insisted on serving this girl at the same time, with her 'usual order'. Even then he gave me cold milk when I had asked for hot also three times. Not impressed at all. The hot water for the tea was also a bit short in quantity.

Stramongate Fish & Chips

Food was lovely, unfortunately I got sent the wrong order , this was rectified quickly, I spoke to a lovely guy called Colin who redid my order again, fast delivery. Very happy thank you!

McDonald's Kendal

Turned up around 9:15pm and ordered a meal. Served very quickly and the meal was really hot and extremely enjoyable - I was ravenous. As it was late very few people in the spot so it was really quiet hence lacking in atmosphere.

Domino's Pizza - Kendal - New Road

Visited her for two takeaway pizzas. There is a seated area within where you can dine. We took ours to go. Staff very friendly and helpful when we tried to figure out the deals. Anyway, got our pizzas,one a vegetarian, so lovely,full of toppings,thoroughly enjoyed and recommend

Farmhouse Kitchen

Stopped here for breakfast. Host gave a warm welcome and was very personable. Food was delicious, perfect poached eggs, crispy bacon, quality meat sausages. Was offered extras in enchange for taking off beans from the breakfast which was very generous.
Atmosphere is quirky and cosy with farmhouse vibes. Would recommend.

Silver Mountain

Really fresh, tasty, enjoyable food. Generous portions, and friendly service with a smile too. Completely worth making the trip to collect it! Top tip: park up on Dowker’s Lane and walk down the path to get to Highgate, no parking dramas then.

New Fortune Chinese Takeaway

Had a lovely takeaway from New Fortune. It was ready in no time & very tasty. I had Singapore chow mein & lemon chicken & my wife had beef curry. It was the best Chinese takeaway we've had in a long time. Recommended.

Looks a little shabby but food was good and lady serving was authentic. Had no disposable forks so had to buy some at supermarket. Was a good find slightly off tourist trail.

An extemely amazing place for shopping for groceries, household items and pharmaceuticals.I was also impressed that it had its own filling station where cars can be filled with fuel by self administration and paid for with card. I mean this is completely different from the ASDA stores I have been to in Hartlepool, Aberdeen, Newcastle and a couple of other branches.I also love how polite and cheerful the cas attendant was because he practically made the people on his till laugh most of the time with pleasant jokes.I am also thrilled with how professional the lady at the pharmacy store was. She knew I was asking for a sensitive drug and immediately ushered me into a room for privacy sake and she completely won me overI also loved the signature color GREEN of ASDA splattered everywhere, and it somehow added a touch of life to everything in the surrounding
