The Old Crown
2 Beech Cottages, Hesket Newmarket, Wigton5 stars for the pub, the atmosphere, the food, the beer and the friendly, accommodating staff. We decided that the Old Crown would be the perfect place for an intimate celebration of our daughter's wedding last Friday. From having drinks and setting up the room the night before; all through the actual wedding day celebrations (with the locals even cheering the married couple as they entered); to the morning after clear up: The Old Crown did us proud! It was perfect and just what our daughter had wanted. Thank you Si & Helen.

Lorraines Tea Room
Mungrisdale, PenrithA great little find after parking in Mungrisdale to walk Blencathra. After a 3.5 hour walk a cup of tea and cake was very much needed and it didn’t disappointment. I had a cream tea which was delicious and my partner had the coffee and walnut cake which he said was the best he’d had. A small business ran by husband and wife who were lovely and very welcoming. Very well worth supporting if you’re in the area.

Watermill Café
Priest's Mill, CaldbeckNostalgic and takes me back to my childhood. Love to visit here. Lovely food and lovely staff. If attending in wheelchair I would suggest following the path past the side door and enter through the back door where the outdoor seating is. (It is a steep path)
Parking: Next to the river can fit 7+ cars if people park responsibly.

The White Horse
Threlkeld, KeswickThanks to everyone at the Bunkhouse which added to my recent visit to the Lakes. I chose the Bunkhouse firstly on price and a very close second for location (central to my planned walks and rides)
The Bunkhouse surpassed my expectations; Clean and fully equipped with everything you need; Showers, toilets, fully equipped kitchen, separate dining area/room, outside seating... Plus other guests were quiet, chilled - all there for walking and enjoying the surroundings. Unfortunately (for me it would seem), I didn't eat at the pub but the smell from the kitchens as I walked passed daily to the car park made my mouth water!...Other guests in my room did eat at the pub and they all said the food is fantastic and you are missing out!
I want to come back to this area of the Lakes and am planning a visit when it snows next and I'm sure I'll be stopping here and will be having some food ? Other guests I spoke with recommended the Sunday Roast and Home made Pie ?
Parking: Safe overnight parking for your vehicles when stopping at the Bunkhouse
