The Jumble Room
Langdale Rd, Grasmere, AmblesideMy husband and I ate here last Thursday. This is a fabulous place, one of the best restaurants we have eaten in for a long time. Great atmosphere, service and food. What a shame it’s only open 3 nights! We live in London and have lots of choices , plus we travel a lot and your place is hard to beat.

Lake Rd, AmblesideWe often seek out Michelin star restaurants on our travels and this did not disappoint. The ambience was spot on, the waiters and chefs very knowledgeable and interesting sharing a story about each plate and some of these dishes were truly the best I've ever had, the salmon and particularily the cheesecake were absolutely incredible.

Auradaze Japanese Ambleside
2 Millans Park, AmblesideWe had a really special evening at this lovely authentic Japanese restaurant for our 10th wedding anniversary. 8 courses and byob. Darren and Laura were so friendly and informative and it was unlike anywhere we've ever eaten before - a great experience. It is really small (6 tables) so book ahead. Thanks both for a lovely evening :)

So nice to see local people ( Megan) serving us in the pub who gave us great tips about the area . Well done,White Lion Team .

Ambleside Tap Yard
Rydal Rd, AmblesideReally good value for money. Chicken was cooked really well in the burgers which came with lots of fries. Good selection of local ales and IPAs on tap.
Cool interior, small shame the tv inside is showing reals of the Caribbean rather than images of the surrounding fells or footage of the local beer being brewed.

Jintana Thai Restaurant Ambleside
Compston Rd, AmblesidePleasantly surprised when we found this place when passing, the food was great and they also catered for my gluten free diet. A bonus to us was the fact that they were dog friendly (limited tables) which enabled us to enjoy the experience without having to get it in a takeaway. Highly recommend

North Rd, AmblesideMeant to give 4 stars sorry. We enjoyed 2 lovely pre dinner drinks in a traditional lake land inn served by friendly staff. We loved puppy and other dogs and atmosphere and drinks were good. Hope to see you next yearxx

Golden Rule
Smithy Brow, AmblesideProper old pub, with quiet nooks, no music or telly, which is exactly what we needed after a day of hiking. Went for 3 nights and would be back again next time I'm in Ambleside. Cheers!

Friendly/quick service, tables were clean, background music pleasant (jazz) and it wasn't too busy (weekday lunchtime).We loved the water dispenser by the entrance. There were small glasses available and we could help ourselves to free citrus flavoured chilled water (there were slices of orange, lemon and lime in the dispenser). It was really nice as we had just finished a walk, but hadn't taken any water with us so were pretty thirsty!

B5287, Grasmere, AmblesideLovely small bar with a cosy atmosphere. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and recommended me a good cider. The food was so excellent, I would come for that alone. I had a delicious starter of smoked salmon which was excellent on its own but the pan fried chicken was so good and so delicious I would happily eat it every day. My partner had the venison and both of us thought it wouldn't be out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant.We have been to Grasmere a few times now over the years but this is the best food we have ever had.

Market Pl, AmblesideFantastic restaurant, We turned up having not booked (which we should have done) but they managed to get us in thanks to a no show.
All the staff we met were really helpful and friendly. And the food was brilliant.
Will definitely visit again when we are next in the area!

Borrans Rd, AmblesideAmazing cakes! Nice coffee. Cherry pie as well as the apple pie are really yummy, chocolate cake is also delicious. Blueberry scone with cream also went down very well. I'm a pig so would love the portions to be bigger ;) lovely staff and great location and the cafe looks really cosy and cute! Will be back soon!

While waiting the waiter popped over to show off a freshly baked quiche. Couldn't resist and ordered a sliced to go. Once ready to pay we have spotted all the lovely cakes on display. Couldn't resist either and got couple to t/a. Amazing!!! Lemon drizzle ?
I would love an option for hash brown with my breakfast, but that's because on top of cakes I love potatoes ;)
Hash browns or not its a must visit when around Ambleside!!! Also coffee is yum!

Ambleside Fish & Chips
Waterhead, AmblesideI had chips and surprisingly nice fishcake. My partner had fish and chips and we both enjoyed it. Great service and fabulous views. Lovely and convenient. Fast service. Plenty of space outside to sit and enjoy both food and the location.
P.s. there's few deals available in store which I couldn't see online so that was an extra bonus while ordering :)

1 Unicorn Building, Compston Rd, AmblesideChinese takeaway in Ambleside. We went for the set dinner for 2 which is only £25. (Cash only mind!) Spring rolls were proper size and full, very good. Ribs decent size and meaty. Chicken sweet&sour was pretty good, as was beef in black bean. Both with reasonable amounts of meat. Rice was really good with plenty of shrimp and pork in. Very quick service. There doesn't seem to be any way to order online and as we had no phone signal, we just popped in, ordered then went up the road to the pub for a quick ale before collecting. Takeaway chinese can be very hit and miss as you've paid for your food and taken it, before you get to see what you've been served. This was pretty good. Certainly better than the other Ambleside offering. Good value for money. We ate every single bit of it!

Quality food, cooked freshly to order for every order. Large portions and average price for the Lake District. Would prefer to pay £12.75 for a nice large portion of fish and chips instead of £12 for some beans on toast at a cafe somewhere. Thanks guys :)

Church St, AmblesideThe most wonderful vegan food. Absolutely delicious. We highly recommend everything we chose as a family of five: the cauliflower steak, nut roast, onion tarte tartin, and desserts of roasted peaches, chocolate bomb, and crumble. The service was excellent. Very attentive, welcoming and polite. The atmosphere was lovely and we were sat in the cutest booth. We can’t wait to go back.

Sheila's Cottage
The Slack, AmblesideMy wife and I have been going to Ambleside twice a year for nearly 20 years... We look forward to Sheilas cottage so much that we always have two meals each visit - so 4x a year !! The standard of food and service never drop and the menu retains a comfortingly similar look with local fresh produce at the core. The food is based on hearty local favorites and served with perfectly cooked steamed vegetables , never limp or undercooked. My last meal was fish and chips... i just fancied it but thought it would be a mistake to move away from more local dishes.... it was fantastic.. the batter was crisp but not greasy and the chips were plentiful and delicious.... Just proves that the chef really knows his craft - dogs are welcome and the atmosphere is relaxed and inclusive, plenty of seats and great service. Thanks to all the staff!!
