Whilst hubby had visited before, today was my 1st time here. Absolute gem of a place, a warm welcome, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. Love finding cafes like this that offer good food and good prices. Will definitely pop in again if we’re ever passing by. Thank you

Owners Kim and Dug very friendly, very helpful ,Kim made such a fuss of our Dachshund Alfie, told us they were leaving the business shortly ,will miss them

Stopped here yesterday while out on my bike and was very glad I did. Great, friendly service with delicious Bakewell and coffee to boot. Will definitely be stopping off again.

The Turks Head

Strong local crowd, delightful staff, and a good pint of guiness with a shamrock on it. They were very accomodating and let me charge my electric bike that was about to die, which was the perfect excuse to get a pint by the fireplace.

I've visited the store many times when I'm around this area and I've always enjoyed my experience grabbing groceries. The staff are very very very very friendly and they are Autistic friendly to me as I have Autism. It is a fairly big store and they have the place stocked up very well even through the bad weather seasons.You cannot fault them they are always there if you need them. If you need help with anything from the store the staff would give you Assistance if you need help from them. This store will always be here for you as long as you need them to get your groceries. This store is also a very lucky for scratchcard the lottery every time I come to this shop I seems to win £20 quid every time on the scratch cards keep up the lovely work SPAR Alston from BenIt is hereby satisfied that the following (SPAR Alston store petrol garage) is Autistic friendly and has been approved and checked by Ben ✅ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Swans Head

This is an amazing antiques shop right in the heart of Alston, Cumbria. It has thousands of items which took us quite a while to look around before we bought what we wanted. Even if you do not buy anything it is well worth having a look as there are so many interesting things to see. The owner, Julie is very helpful and knows lots about what she sells.

Lovelady Shield Hotel - Book Direct with Paymán Club

We stayed in one of the cottages the bedrooms were lovely there were a upstairs bathroom also a shower plus downstairs toilet and a laundry room the kitchen had everything you needed the only problem was the kitchen floor was dirty and the living room was lacking in comfort and needed updating the worst problem was the rug which had turned up corners which was quite dangerous as it was a trip hazard for everyone it was also very dirty its a shame because it took away the lovely building and luxury of the rest of the place as many others have stated in there comments please as the owners do take notice but don't actually do anything about it you have a lovely place so take a little time an get rid of that rug and it would be a lot nicer place which I would love to recommend
