Restaurants in St Ives

Porthmeor Beach Cafe
Porthmeor Beach, Saint IvesHaving recently moved to Cornwall we are keen to explore the area, so on a nice Sunny Sunday in October we took the Dog for a walk on the beach and we were just about ready for some breakfast. Very friendly service and they accommodated our Dog. They do a 'build your own Breakfast' which is a great idea. Yes, its not the cheapest Brekky ive ever had but it was certainly one of the best. Kept me full up for most of Sunday. Highly recommended if in the area
Parking: Parked up in Beach Road however we do have a Blue Badge but there is parking without yellow lines

Ugly Butterfly Restaurant and Bar Cornwall
Carbis Bay Estate, Carbis Bay, Saint IvesOh wow the food just kept on coming. This was absolutely stunning. Every mouthful exploding with flavours. The pea soup and the lamb were my favourite. Stunning setting, beautiful surroundings. We also paired with the wine tasting course and it did not disappoint. Lovely flavours to compliment each course. This evening was a real treat and if your able to book a table you will not be disappointed
Parking: Free parking while using the restaurant

Bier Huis Grand Café
16 St Andrew's St, Saint IvesThis was actually recommended to us by the taxi driver on the way into St Ives, on all our visits we have never found this, what have we been missing? Staff, atmosphere were fantastic, there were a few, husband involved, in putting your shoe in a basket when ordering a certain drink which is hoisted up and you get it back when you’re finished ? got the whole bar involved. We had the Croque Monsieur and Madame which were amazing! Would love to try the Tapas dishes but they’re closing tomorrow for ten days whilst they go to Belgium to taste for the next beers they will be serving. Amazing place and I’m sure you would need to book in busy season as it was really busy today. Amazing place

The Fish Shed St Ives
Porthmeor Beach, Saint IvesBest food I’ve had for a long time! Fresh, full of flavour and portions were a great size. Would recommend sitting in the outside pods; amazing view over Porthmeor and good atmosphere. Staff were great.

Pilchard Press Alehouse
Wharf Rd, Saint IvesWhen this place first opened it felt like stepping back in time. It felt like a makeshift secret hideout with barely any matching furniture, make shift seats and tables, barrels behind the bar with drinks poured directly from the tap. Over the years the place has tidied itself up, which imo has taken away some of its previous charm and quirkiness, but that is very much down to opinion. This is still the best place in town if you want a real cask ale that isnt Doombar or Tribute.

St.Ives Brewery - The Brewhouse

West Beach Bakery
Porthmeor Beach, Saint IvesWe visited twice and voted it our best beach vibe in St Ives. Even after a long season the staff were great. We had greek food twice and it was delicious and very authentic. We were lucky to get there as Beach west was closing for the winter but definitely worth visiting in 2025!

Talay Thai Kitchen
Wharf Rd, Saint IvesThis is a nice place to have Thai foods as well as sea foods. I wanted to have sea foods in St Ives but did not want to have a fried and greasy one. I was totally satisfied with the quality and price of the sea foods in their special menu (maybe 20 pounds) - mussels, scallops, squids, and so on. If you are tired of having the fish and chips and others, you could try. Service was great as well.
PS 10% service fee will be added and the ordering rice is separate from the cuisine.

17 Chapel St, Saint IvesCracking friendly "locals pub" but welcomed as a tourist. No frills, decent beer (only one real ale on but well kept). Pool table, big screens, bring your own food.

The Rum & Crab Shack
Wharf Rd, Saint IvesThe food was good. Unfortunately we were literally ignored by the waitress. Only after calling several times were we able to order new drinks or pay.
It wasn't because there were too many people to serve.
Otherwise a cozy old pub.
Wheelchair accessibility: Not possible, pub is on the first floor... no elevator available

The Golden Lion
Market Pl, Saint IvesPub split into two halves (bar and lounge), with a central bar serving both sides. Small beer garden out back that’s over looked by the town church, no sea view due to the pub being located in the town centre (nice spot on a sunny day). Pub shows sport on a few tvs and has a typical selection of drinks on offer. The place could do with some TLC to bring it back to life a bit, as it does feel a bit soulless if it’s quiet.

Lifeboat Inn, St Ives
Wharf Rd, Saint IvesHad food here and it was lovely. Lovely harbour side pub with nice views over the harbour of St Ives. We ate small fish and chips and lite bite scampi. Then popped in again with Family. Would definitely recommend dining here or just popping in for a drink. Thankyou team.

The Queens
High St, Saint IvesWent to watch rugby, plenty of space and good atmosphere. They did forget our food order but rectified it really quickly and we're super apologetic! Nachos for the win.

Jus' Desserts St Ives
Wharf Rd, Saint IvesNot the best ice cream but I struggle to think of many other places I've enjoyed an ice cream as I do here. Granted the seagulls keep you entertained with their begging but don't be too relaxed or they'll rip that ice cream out of your clammy paws.

Beer & Bird
18A Fore St, Saint IvesGreat food and even better service.
Servers were really helpful and chatty which was nice to see, usually they are too busy in summer months… burgers are lovely, chips a bit too salty for me so I left most of them. Will be visiting again :-)

Yellow Canary
12 Fore St, Saint IvesWe bought a Chicken, Bacon and Cheese Pasty. It was unreal. We bought a Cinnamon Bun too which was fantastic, really tasty and crispy on the outside.
The guy who served us was really friendly, and only took a few minutes to heat the pasty up.
Cost us £9, which I guess isn’t cheap, but for the quality of the food it’s definitely worth it.
Would recommend to anyone in St Ives and will go again.

Willy Waller's Ice Cream Factory
Wharf Rd, Saint IvesThe raspberry frozen yoghurt was absolutely delicious and the staff was very friendly. Fair prices.
The only unusual thing was that the “Captain” rum and raisin had a chocolate ice cream base instead of vanilla, which was different to normal rum and raisin, but not necessarily bad.
But all the flavours we tried were lovely.

Hong Kong Kitchen
19 Chapel St, Saint IvesHave been getting takeaways from the Hong Kong Kitchen since the early 00s and can confidently say this is the best takeaway in St Ives, past or present. Food is always delivered quickly and arrives steaming hot, fresh and delicious. Vegetarian options are just as tasty as the meat options. Prices are good value and portions are a great size, never left hungry. All of the staff are lovely and very efficient too. A mainstay of St. Ives.
